Silverlight 1.0, now with Support for Linux

Silverlight 1.0 has been released and along with that a nice surprise announcement that Microsoft will officially be working with Novell on Moonlight.

A lot have posts have already been written heralding the news:

But once I found Scott Barnes' post which pointed to Kurt Brockett's Silverlight with Tux image I was convinced I should  share the love as well.

Thinking its time to setup a Linux box now...

  1. As I read in Slashdot:

"Microsoft will include Silverlight as an update and makes it high priority. Silverlight becomes success and passes Flash as the major app in the sector. MS will discontinue Moonlight because of BS reason. Linux is locked out by vendor lock-in.

This is purely hypothetical but not at all improbable."

Fuck Silverlight, not only because the only developing platform is only Windows (they are messing with Apple too).

Not that I like Adobe guys... but dark times are coming...

  2. Gustavo, What's the part about Silverlight that bothers you the most? Would you rather there was no Linux support? The SlashDot thread is definitely interesting though, thanks for leading me to it.
