Greenwood All*Stars on campus

Friday afternoon at work we were treated to a live band outside of our offices. The Greenwood All*Stars were invited as an event that was part of our Employee Give Campaign. We brought the people food and beer and the All*Stars brought the rock. So much so they were having power problems.

I was able to grab a glimpse of their appearance on video, but I unfortunately missed them playing "Highway Ninja Shark". I had never heard the song, but its been added to my "stuck in my head" list. The lyrics are crazy and the singing is dramatic. And when they played it on Friday they fell into a pretty sweet jam session in the middle.

And as a side note, this was my first video posted to Silverlight Streaming. Very simple once I found the Quickstart on packaging your video file and I could get the video encoded small enough to fit.

This is a fun way to sell polo shirts. The music is turned off so as not to startle you (this isn't MySpace), but it is worth listening to if you're not sitting in a meeting or a library. You can get your own customized UNIQLOCK here.

Coming Zune

ComingZune.com is interesting site refering to Zune which is something new from Microsoft. The Niners seemed a bit turned off by the site in this thread. I don't think its really that bad, and I dig the music by Regina Spektor and I don't think it was trying to hard to be a "viral marketing site". Its just a "coming soon, give us your email for more info later". Two issues though, it needs a skip intro button, as well as just a little bit of enough like what can be found on Cesar Menedez's blog Zune Insider:

It's Microsoft's new, holistic approach to music and entertainment.

I think that would negate a bit of the furstration, as well an RSS feed alternative to email as suggested in the ch9 thread. All in all, looks interesting and looking forward to find out more.
